Conditions We Treat
Integrated care for mental health and substance use together, with one team and one plan.
Understanding the Condition
Co-occurring disorders, sometimes called dual diagnosis, means living with a mental health condition and a substance use disorder at the same time. Each can make the other worse: anxiety or depression can lead to drinking or drug use, and substance use can deepen mental health symptoms. Treating both together gives the best chance of lasting recovery.
Recognizing the Signs
These are common signs, not a diagnosis. If you recognise yourself in several of them, an integrated assessment can help.
Using alcohol or drugs to cope with anxiety, low mood or stress
Mental health symptoms that get worse after drinking or using
Trying to cut back but feeling worse emotionally when you do
Past treatment that focused on only one problem and did not last
Relationships, work or health suffering from both
Feeling stuck in a cycle that is hard to break alone

Your Care Journey
Your first visit is an integrated assessment with a licensed clinician, about 60 to 90 minutes, that looks at your mental health and substance use together. From there, one team builds one plan, which may include IOP, therapy, psychiatric care, peer support and case management. Everyone involved in your care works from the same plan and reviews progress with you.
Common Questions
Which do you treat first, mental health or substance use?
Both, together. Research and experience show integrated treatment works better than treating one at a time.
Do I need two separate programs?
No. One team coordinates your care, so you are not passed between services.
What if I have been treated before and it did not last?
That is common when only one condition was addressed. An integrated plan often makes the difference.
Is integrated treatment covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans cover outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment. We work with a growing number of plans, offer self pay options, and check your coverage before you start.
